Our Association

The Finnish Dark Bee Keepers’ Association was founded 2017.

The current president of the association is Markku Pöyhönen.

There are more than thirty beekeepers keeping dark bees in Finland. The total number of colonies with dark bees is currently a few hundreds.

The sudden death of Aimo Nurminen, our leading breeder, was a great loss for the association. We continue in his important work for the preservation of the Apis mellifera mellifera species on the territory of Finland.
